What does this mean?

This is a pair of Chinese porcelain fu dogs. They are usually a set, where one is male and the other female, and traditionally meant to be placed in front of an entrance as a sign of prosperity. In most cases, the male fu dog has his paw on an orb, the female on a cub. Porcelain fu dog sets like these vary in price based on age and intricacy of design. Ones similar to yours are selling for around $300. I have included a few links below as reference for you. The Fair Market Value of the pait is between $300 and $350.
