Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a modern forgery in the shape of a fossilized scorpion. This is either a moroccan or chinese forgery, partly cast and painted plaster or resin. You can see the opened air bubbles from the cast. It is a decorative piece and the collector might not have realized that it is a forgery. Unfortunately fakes of no value at all.
