Medium is an original ink and color painting executed on a finely woven, ribbed canvas backing. The subject shows two kittens surrounded by red autumn leaves. The calligraphy inscription is hand-brushed vertically on the left side and reads "雙貓 甲申年" which translates to Two Cats, Year of Jiashen. The artist seal features a square red cinnabar stamp reading "張氏之印" which translates to Seal of the Zhang Clan or Zhang Family. The artwork is professionally conservation-mounted in a custom gilded timber frame by Complete Framing Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. It is fitted with premium TruVue TruGuard 99% UV-Protection glass. The item shows excellent visual preservation with natural tension waves and cockling visible across the mounted canvas under the glass due to environmental humidity changes over time.
