This is a framed painting on canvas. It is 48 inches wide by 24 inches tall. It appears to be in good condition.
I acquired it from a neighbor who offered it to me when I helped her move. She said that she received it from her grandmother. On the back of the frame there is a plaque that says "The Midtown art gallery, 227 So. State, Salt Lake City, Utah." This is all of the information that I have.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be an oil on canvas landscape painting by Phillip Cantrell (b. 1922). He was born in Port Austin, Michigan and it is assumed that he received some inspiration or training in Paris, France between 1941 and 1943. He is known for his traditional ideal landscape paintings. This particular painting was most likely painted in the 1960s or 1970s. Similar paintings by Cantrell were sold or offered at auction.
