Considering the photographs, overall pattern, knot density and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Knotted Chinese Embossed Rug. The piece dates back to the period between 1980-2000. This sort of pieces were made in the Chinese weaving ateliers which mass produced copies of Oriental and European rugs. The basic outline and some motifs of this piece were adopted from French Aubusson rugs but otherwise everyhting is quite different in a clear manner. The piece is florally decorated and the flowers motifs are embossed by arranged knots. The piece has a central decoration which means it has a central medallion which is also florally decorated within an oval shape. The central decoration's base colour is a bright red while the borders are decorated with an ivory colour. The motifs on the pieces are not much detailed and created with basic lines. The knot quality of the piece is average for the period and production origin. Motifs are clear and there is no muddy appearance. Tulip motifs were used on the smaller borders. Except for the bright red base, the rest of the colours are quite pale. This was an attempt to make the piece a good fit for the modern interiors of the time. The piece also has semi-medallions on it'e each for side and two to the sides. Knotted wool on cotton. The piece is in good condition with some red stains and partial loss to the fringes.
