This is a fairly large, 36" x 24" (45" x 33" framed) original 20th century oil on canvas mountain and alpine landscape painting that is signed Meyer, Munchen (for Munich, Germany). The attached typewritten marketing biography on the verso (backside) of painting explains that the artist is Fritz Meyer who was born in 1904 in Germany. The bio details that he is from a family of artists and that he learned from a miniature painting artist which lends credence to his ability for minute details in larger wall size artworks. These types of 20th century paintings with attached typed biographies were generally exported and sold through American art galleries in the 1950s - 1970s. Although quite competent, works by the artist are not heavily sought after by collectors on the art auction market. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
