The frontside is a small aquarell, the backside is a pencil sketch. I haven't been able to identify the signature on the bottom left corner.
11 cm * 17 cm.
I bought this unauthenticated piece at an auction 2 years ago (see: http://www.mugyujtokhaza.hu/?page=arhivum&uid=17150). I don't know anything else about its history.
Dear Adam,
Thank you for your help and patience.
The presented object appears to be a pencil drawing and a watercolor on paper with 11 x 17 cm measurements. The artwork depicts on the front side a watercolor with a landscape and a barely readable signature that could be read as "Mary".
Sadly no additional information for an artist fitting in style and motif is given by reference books and databases.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in medium condition and there is a crack visible in the upper left corner in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 30 to 80 USD.
This estimate is based on recently recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
Dear Adam,
Thank you for your fast response. There is no signature or monogram visible?
With kind regards,
George
Dear George,
there is a signature in the bottom left corner. I believe the 3rd photo (the one where the frame is visible) has a good enough resolution to see it clearly. Unfortunately I can't decipher it. The Hungarian language has some special characters like é, á, ü, ó, etc., but none of them are present there, so it may well be a non-Hungarian artist.
Thanks,
Adam
One more thing: I think this may be from a sketch book, hence it is two sided. The aquarell is quite sketchy, as well as the pencil drawing.
Dear George,
In my previous message I requested the aquarell (of the 'Pier') apprised rather than the pencil drawing (of the 'Little girl'). I also mentioned there is a signature in the bottom left corner, which is only visible on the aquarell.
I know this would now mean that you would apprise two objects instead of one. Could you please help rectify the situation?
Thanks,
Adam Homonnay
Dear Adam,
thank you for your email. Could you upload more focused and detailed images of both drawings and the signature? Thanks.
With kind regards,
George
Dear George,
I uploaded new photos. Hopefully better resolution. Please kindly focus on the fron side ('Pier'), with the signature.
Thanks,
Adam
Dear George.
any news?
Thanks,
Adam
Dear George,
any news??
Thanks,
Adam
Dear George,
could you please at least let me know why you are ignoring my messages? The only thing I'd like is to have the watercolor appraised.
Thanks,
Adam
Still waiting.
Thanks, appreciated!
Adam
Dear Adam,
thanks and you are very welcome.
With kind regards,
George
Dear George,
Thanks for getting back to me. I'd like to have the aquarell apprised.
I'm quite curious what you think about it. It was carefully framed, protected by glass on both sides, so both objects can be clearly seen. It had either significant emotional value for the previous owner, or it has tangible market value,
Best regards,
Adam
