Dear Manuel,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a bronze shield with the measurements of 14 inches diameter. It is a round shield decorated with a gorgoneion or medusa in the middle and laurel leaves. This piece was made in the second half of the 19th or first half of the 20th century probably in France or Italy. This is a replica after a Roman gladiator shield, a so-called hoplomachus shield, that was found during excavation at the Quadriporticus of the Theatres in Pompeii. This is a replica after this famous archeological finding.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 400 to 800 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
