My mother brought the plate/bowl from Japan during the 1980s. I don't know if it was a gift or whether it she bought it. I cannot read the marking on the back and am not even sure I've photographed it "right-side" up. Could you give me a better idea about this plate?
12" diameter, round with scallop border

Hello Mary,
Thank you for choosing Mearto for your appraisal.
Based on the images, this item is:
An inspired Song Longquan celadon plate, with a very particular intricate design. The fat glaze look ok, the color is good, stand stand looks original and the shape is also ok I believe. My estimation is based on an not restored ore damaged piece.
This piece dates back to mid 20th century, and its design differs from typical glazed pottery.
Rare piece.
Thanks for your appraisal. I was surprised that it is considered a celadon piece as I usually think of celadon as having that lovely, light green glaze. Interesting that it is Chinese when my mother got it in Japan. Thank you for your efforts.
Best regards,
Mary D
