The doll came from Germany and was given to my grandmother around the age of 4. We believe that makes the doll at least 100 years old. It has the markings for Kammar and Reinhardt and has a head from Simon and Helbig. The doll was found naked in an attic. In 1980 the hair was fixed up to look nice again, the doll was "restrung" and the clothes were made for it. She is about 2 ft tall and has sleeping eyes although one doesn't work well. She has movable joints at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, and thighs. She has a hard body with a hole in the back.
This was my grandmother's childhood doll. I wrote the answer to this question with the description question.
Dear Diane,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the apprisal.
The presented object appears to be a antqiue bisque doll marked by the Gemran producers Simon & Helbig/ Kammer & Reinhard marked. It has an movable "sleeping eyes" and the head and face is in quite good condition. The hair and the clothes are later additions.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
