This is a drawing, I believe in pencil and charcoal done in 1978. From my web research it makes it a very early work for the artist. The image is behind glass, as I was unsure if I could remove the frame without something going wrong. The dimensions are 27" x 19 1/2" (in frame). I know he is an English fellow known for ceramics, we found this and a couple others in my landlords garage.
My landlord Claus Fricke, and I were recently cleaning out his garage and found a number of Items stowed away. His wife Edna has had two strokes in the past two years and is unable to remember her art collection. We are in the Vail Valley in Colorado, so my guess is she collected from Vail, Aspen, or Denver. They do not use the internet, so this is my attempt at finding some information.
Dear Carla,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The apprised object appears to be charcoal drawing with the measurements 27" x 19 1/2". It depicts a boy standing in front of a car which reminds of a Buick Roadmaster. The drawing is signed "Perry" and dated 1978. This artwork is not comparable in signature a style with works of Grayson PERRY (1960). Even the early works of this artist have not this realistic style like this artwork. Sadly no other suitable artist in style and signature is mentioned in databases and reference books.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation for this unidentified artist drawing would be between 80 to 150 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
