It's a vase roughly 14" tall and 8" wide at top and bottom. Definitely hand made and fired. It's pottery for sure. Has a number of 555 at the bottom.

Good morning, David,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is Italian majolica, or tin-glazed earthenware. I don't recognize the shield-form mark with chevron styling and haven't found it in any of my pottery marks books or in an online search so am concluding it is an unknown potter. Despite the rough appearance of this, the inscription "Made in Italy" is a 20th Century connotation, so this is not as old as it might first appear to be.
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An Italian majolica baluster vase
20th Century
underside inscrbed "555 / MADE / IN / ITALY"
14 inches tall
$100-150*
