i believe this is a hand made st croix rocking chair mid 20th century.i believe it used to have cane seat and back, replaced by upholstery at some point. It was my grandmother’s rocker and i believe it is 100 years old at least. i found something similar on charish for $2000.
it was my Grandmothers that was passed down to my Dad and now to me.

Apologies; meant to say Lincoln Rocker. Here is a link to recent auction sales of Lincoln rockers:

The connection to St. Croix may have to do with the presence of caning, which your chair does not have. Also, if you inherited this from your grandparents, it is likely older than mid 20th Century.
so do you think its a lincoln rocker?
My mom said it was old when my Grandmother got it. So 19th maybe?
there are alot of holes on underneath the upholstery that looks like the seat was cane at one point, but no holes underneath the back upholstery
thank you
This never had caning.
Yes, the correct term is "Lincoln" rocker because it is like one Abraham Lincoln used. I do think this is from the 19th Century and more likely American than St. Croix but you seemed insistent and I wasn't sure if there was a family connection to the Island.
thank you
Derik
