Hand sewn Peacock
This cloth peacock looks to be hand sewn, the body part is stuffed and sticks out from the rest of the sewing. It is sewn on silk and is framed in a wood case that rotates back and forth on a stand. It is 41" tall x 24 1/2" wide x 3" deep in the frame. It appears that the peacock is hand sewn on silk and every thread placed very carefully. The material appears to be some type of yarn uphoslstery thread. It maybe some type of tapestry perhaps, I don't know.

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. The item that you have submitted is a firescreen and dates from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. It is a Contential piece, meaning that it originated on the European continent, most likely France. The overall condition is fair to good, the frame has been repainted, and it been repaired and modified, the wooden back and the glass on the front would not have been original to the piece. The front of the screen has a silk embroidery featuring a seated peacock. It was made using silk thread on a silk backing and does have some discoloration associated with age. Based on recent price realizations for items similar to yours, a fair market value estimate would be between 150 and 250 US dollars.
