I was told this was a 1930s hutch. There is a stamp but it us very hard to make out. It says C. Bear or Baer , the word under that starts with an H , maybe followed by o or n. The third word looks to be st. Catherine's ,possibly. It is missing one glass pane. I have all the handles, they match the bottom but I've taken off. Planed on oiling but thought better of it. Has a very nice patina. Stands approx 5 feet tall. Wad wanting to know a bit about it and value when fixed and waxed
A man said he bought 40 years ago as an antique.
Good evening, Jen,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. I could not make out the marks to identify the maker either but it could have been made in St. Catherine's Ontario. Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An Art Deco style mahogany and maple veneered cabinet
Possibly made in Canada, 1930-1940
approximately 60 inches tall
Condition: One door currently lacking glass panel. Some surface abrasions commensurate with wear and use.
Value in as-is condition: $150-250
Value with replaced glass and polish: $250-350
