This is a vintage, 20th century, veneered wood dining room display cabinet from the late 1920s to 1930s that is done in a Jacobean or Renaissance Revival style. This was a very popular decorator style in homes during that era and this would have been part of a matching dining room suite with dining table, chairs and sideboard too. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
These hutches have never been worth $5000 at any time in the past. Even a full dining suite in this style from that era could not achieve $5000. The person who conducted the on-site was quite clearly unqualified.
Really!!!! This piece was appraised several years ago by an expert that actually came to the house to see it. At that time it was worth $5000. Are you telling me that a 100 year old hutch has lost value to that degree? Really!!!!
