Hello, this item is a Colt Single Action Army revolver, first generation, produced in the mid 1870s. The serial number 41660 confirms a production date around 1877 which matches the patent markings from 1871, 1872 and 1875 on the frame. The caliber .45 and the 7.5 inch barrel identify it as the Cavalry Model. The visible U.S. stamp beneath the patent dates indicates a U.S. government inspected revolver which originally formed part of a military contract batch. The finish has worn to a uniform patina and the grips show age consistent with long term use. The screw heads, frame contours and cylinder shape look correct for a genuine first generation Colt rather than a later reproduction.
The fair market value for a U.S. marked first generation Colt Single Action Army from this serial range depends heavily on originality and condition. Complete examples with original finish and inspector marks can reach 4000 to 9000 USD. Heavily worn or refinished pieces often fall in the 2000 to 4000 USD range. This revolver appears honest, used and mechanically functional which supports a value around 2500 to 4500 USD in the current antique firearms market. Buyers place strong importance on matching serial numbers and untouched surfaces, both of which look consistent in the provided images.
