A michanical doll that claps its hands. What I have been told (but can’t verify) is this was one of the first 3 michanical Campbell’s soup displays. Internal mechanical works well and can be turned by hand to work. Electrical does not work. I have not put any time into troubleshooting the problem.
This belonged to a next door nabor I had growing up.
This is an animatronic store display figure of a young girl that was created by the Silvestri Art Manufacturing Company for the department store, Stern's. This would not be related to Campbell's soup. In 1904 Campbell's used illustrations by Grace Gebbie Wiederseim as their advertising characters, after a divorce she was then known as Grace Drayton and famed for her illustrations of Dolly Dingle and characters. This animatronic store display bears no resemblance to Drayton's Campbell's Kids. Silvestri Art Mfg Co itself was not founded until 1934, well after the Campbell's Kids were known advertising figures. The automaton you have more likely dates to the 1950s. They are still in business, if they have kept diligent records, you may be able to glean more information from the manufacturer directly with the order number on the tag. The estimate factors in the condition issues visible in the photos and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
