Vintage Country Geese on canvas
Gift from wealthy Uncle
Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, could I also have the dimensions of your work?
Thank you,
Karine
Dear Elizabeth,
Thank you for getting back to us so quickly.
This is a primitive still life painting (American School, 20th Century) depicting several elements such as (on the foreground) three geese on a mat with on the background (from the left to the right) a quilt and a flower composition, a weathervane, a duck on a sideboard. It measures 16 x 22 inches. It is signed on lower right "Jasper" followed by "C". It appears to be in excellent and original condition. The stamp on the reverse "Beech Street Art Company" in Mokena, Illinois indicates the place where this work was originally purchased (maybe by your uncle), and the number on the back seems to indicate the date when this work was done "16/08/85".
Unfortunately, after searching this artist with this particular style, I am sorry to say that I was unable to find any similar artist's signature in our records. It seems to me that the painting that you own has been executed by an obscure artist.
Therefore, this is is reflected in the estimate in red that appears above. The subject work’s size and composition were also taken into consideration when determining these figures.
Best regards,
Karine
