I purchased this from an estate sale / HiBid in Orlando. The former owner was a pathologist. The painting is unsigned. It is in excellent condition (could use a professional cleaning). The frame is walnut (per markings on the back) with a rope insert. The sticker on the back shows that it may have come from the Bergen Mall in NJ. The Bergen Mall opened in 1957. It looks like the original price was $30. If it were purchased in 1965, that would be around $300 today. Frankly, the picture online wasn't great. When I got it home I realized that whoever painted this was exceptionally good. Several people I've showed it to wondered if this could possibly be an early Bob Ross.

Hello, this item is a large oil painting on canvas, framed in walnut with rope insert, measuring approximately 54 by 30 inches overall (image size 47.5 by 23.5 inches). The back bears a sticker from “Nouveau Artists, Original Oil Paintings & Lithographs” located at the Bergen Mall in Paramus, New Jersey. This mall opened in 1957 and housed several galleries selling decorative art for the middle-class market during the 1960s and 1970s. The painting is unsigned, and while competently executed, it was most likely sold as decorative art rather than as a collectible fine art piece.
Although some have speculated whether it could be an early Bob Ross, there is no evidence to support that attribution. Bob Ross did not sell works through Nouveau Artists or Bergen Mall galleries, and his works are distinctive and generally accompanied by provenance tied to his teaching or television career. The quality here is indeed strong, but attribution should remain anonymous. In the current market, large unsigned decorative oil paintings of landscapes typically sell in the range of 150 to 400 USD at auction, with retail values somewhat higher if marketed as vintage mid-century décor.
