Dear Dan,
Thank you for your request. The presented objects are two pencil drawings on paper attributed to Paul Cezanne. The first depicts a standing male nude with the measurements of 11 x 7 inches and is a study after Luca Signorelli. The second drawing depicts a study with a reclining figure and a male head after the painting "The death of Sardanapalus" by Eugene Delacroix and this drawing has the measurements of 7 x 9 7/16 inches. Both drawings were exhibited and published. There are many drawings of Paul Cezanne on the market. Especially watercolors and gouaches landscapes reach high hammer prices.
The drawings are in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
A estimation for each drawing would be between 18.000 to 25.000 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary. This estimation on the base of images does not serve as an authentification.
Both drawings are published in:
- Gertrude Berthold, Cezanne und die Alten Meister, Stuttgart, 1958, nos. 242 & 248, illustrated n.p. - -
- Theodore Reff, 'Cezanne and Hercules' in Art Bulletin, XLVIII, 1966, p. 40, note 74

With best regards,
