This is a vintage 3rd quarter 20th century painting done in the manner of works by Margaret Keane, born 1927 (note, not spelled Keene), she is the artist credited with 'inventing; the 'Big Eye' paintings that were popular decorative wall art characters in the mid 20th century. The work, however, depicting a big eyed street cat is not signed Keane (nor Hawkins, her maiden name) and was done by someone inspired by her Big Eye paintings. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
