The painting frame is 29 x 24 inches. The painting itself is 20 x 15 inches.
Grandmother gave it to me to sell.
Dear Maxwell,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This undated watercolor painting appears to be by the American artist called Mary Turlay Robinson (1888- 1957). It depicts a scene set in the New York subway of a group of commuters with a Red Cross officer on the right-hand side of the composition. Sight 24”h x 12”w. It is housed in a carved gilt frame where some signs of wear are visible, but the work itself appears to be in good condition.
The estimation highlighted in red above is based on comparables offered and sold at auction in the last five years. The subject work’s size, the composition, condition (based on photographs and comments provided), as well as the artists’ current auction market were taken into consideration when determining the estimate.
Please note that in many cases, pricing for similar items available on the primary (retail) market vary and are often higher than secondary (auction) market examples.
Best regards,
Karine
Dear Max,
We saw some good results with eBay. The estimate that I have given you corresponds to the auction market which is generally a third of the price seen on the retail market. So if you think of selling your work on eBay, I would say that a fair price would be around $300.
I hope this helps,
Karine
Thanks or your insight Karine. How much should I put in online for buy it now more or less? Also where do you recommend me to sell it.
all the best
Max
