The number "1929" is not the year this was made but rather the form number; the number "24" designates the year this was made.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:

A vintage Mettlach enamel and saltglazed stoneware stein
made by Villeroy & Bach, Germany, dated 1924
2.0 liter, model #1929. Of circular section and baluster form with pewter mounted hinged lid, single loop handle, circular stepped foot. Glazed allover in a brick-red glaze with "Circles in Octagram" pattern and gadrooned cuff to the foot. Marked underneath.
10-1/2 inches tall
CONDITION: appears to be in good condition; value assumes no chips, breaks, repairs or losses.
PROVENANCE: inherited
