Military Sword
27 February 2025
Description

Made by Hawkes & Co of Piccadilly London. Used by my grandfather as a dress sword when on horseback. He was Major George Griffen (of Yarmouth & later Norwich) who fought in the First World War and later in Ireland during the uprising. It is not in particularly good condition after being stored in a roof for the last fifty years but obviously has great sentimental value. I do have a picture somewhere of him on horseback with the sword but the one below is him on the far right marching with his men.
