Hand painted Japanese vase (Nippon)
I inherited this from my grandpa
Hi Corey,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This vase is similar to the other Japanese export vase you've submitted an appraisal inquiry for, the only difference is this one is a little smaller, which typically means less valuable, but the decoration in this one has more landscape, which brings the value back up to the range I'd valued the other one at.
Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Japanese export hand-painted parcel gilt and enamel decorated two-handled vase
Morimura Brothers, Nippon, Japan, mark dates to 1911-1921
With four medallions with landscape decoration, marked underneath the foot.
8 1/4 inches high, 5 3/4 inches across handles
PROVENANCE: inherited from grandfather
$250-350*
