Good morning, Tristram,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
I've not been able to find this specific pattern in the online Noritake pattern databases but it's really a lovely set, though would, I think, have been larger originally (would have had more tea bowls. Based on the photographs and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A 40-piece Noritake Chinoiserie style partial gilt part tea and dessert service
Bearing Maruki (Komaru) mark, made on or after 1921 (when the McKinley Tariff Act required these to say 'MADE IN JAPAN'
With an oxblood ground, gilt decoration and black trim.
Comprising:
12 tea cups
12 saucers
12 dessert plates
1 waste bowl
1 cream pitcher
2 square plates
$300-500
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise and thank you for using Mearto.
Dear Madelia
Thank you for your appraisal. I have taken the cups out and they are all the same size.
I hope this helps and I look forward to receiving a valuation.
Kind regards
Tristram
