Dear Sandor,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil paint on canvas with the measurements of 32 x 25 inches. This is a scene from the Passion of Christ. After Pilate´s court over Jesus Pontius Pilatus who was the Roman governor of Judaea. Jesus is led away by soldiers while Pilatus washes his hands. This painting is influenced by the Nazarene movement and was probably made in Germany in the late 19th century. It was painted by an unknown artist and belonged to an altar or church to illustrate the Passion.
This piece is in medium to good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 500 to 1.000 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
