Painting with water glass and sugar cubes
It was owned by my grandfather. He was a native of San Jose California
Dear Evan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal.
The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil paint on canvas with unknown measurements. The painting depicts a still life with an glass, cutlery, and sugar cubes. It is signed with the name "G. Cadenasso". Because of the signature, motif, and style, this painting can be identified as the work of the American artist Giuseppe CADENASSO (1854-1918). This artist made mostly landscape paintings.
Works by this artist were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in bad condition and there are two serious damages visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 150 to 250 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
Dear Evan,
Thank you for your email. Restoration of the cut in the canvas would be probably over the estimate of the painting.
With kind regards,
George
George:
Is this oil painting worth restoring? Can it be repaired. What would it be worth in restored condition?
