Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. And thank you for the additional photos and information.
It is a sweet doll. Such antique toys are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The doll is made of a kind of composition clay material that has been decorated after the firing, the lower arms and lower legs are also made of composition. The cloth body is probably filled with sawdust as was common when this type of doll was produced in the 1940s. Without makers marks on the back of the head it is difficult to tell where the doll was made but it could be made in America or in Germany and then exported to America. This particular type of doll is not the most soughtafter doll at auction. The condition of old toys is very important for the price. In this case the doll is in used condition with several signs of old age and having been played with.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online toys auction, where I believe the doll has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the doll. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
Their is no numbers or markings the back of head has cracked over the years looks like the hard material pottery covers some material inside. Hair looks real arms and legs are hard pottery or something like that and the body is all soft. Guess my main question is how old doll is or any information you may have on it. My grown children don’t want doll, so thought about donating it to local museum. But would like to give them some information on her if I can find some. Thanks
