estate Story goes that this was purchased some time in the 1940’s in manhattans b.Altman and company flagship 5th avenue store for approx $6000.00. Dated from 1884 and frame is part of the art. It was then on display in my grandfathers drug store in Long Island for 30 yrs until it was moved to my fathers dining room for the last 45 + years.

Dear Thomas,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a painting made in oil paint on canvas with unknown measurements. The painting depicts three amorettes painting or holding drawings. This is an allegory of the arts and this painting could be a part of a series of the arts like painting, music, and so on. It is signed in the lower-left corner with E. D. Maria and dated 1884. Sadly no artist comparable in style and signature is mentioned in reference books or databases.
Comparable objects of this artist were recently not offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 250 to 500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
George
