Hello, this item is an original oil painting on canvas by the Russian artist V. Gribennkov, depicting a view of the Thames Embankment in London. The composition shows figures strolling and standing along the river, with steamboats on the Thames and the silhouette of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben visible in the background. The scene is rendered in a soft, atmospheric manner, with muted tones and a hazy light that suggests a foggy or overcast day, a visual trope closely associated with historic views of London. The figures wear late nineteenth to early twentieth century style clothing, which reflects a nostalgic, retrospective approach rather than a contemporary street scene. The painting is signed and dated 2007, and inscriptions on the reverse, written in Russian, identify the artist, the subject, the dimensions, and the date, confirming authorship and execution details.
From a market perspective, V. Gribennkov is known for small to medium scale cityscapes and genre scenes that reference historical European urban life, particularly London and Paris. Works of this type, especially those with clear subject matter, legible signature, and documentary inscriptions on the reverse, are collected primarily for decorative and narrative appeal rather than institutional demand. Comparable paintings by Gribennkov from the 2000s, of similar size and subject, typically achieve secondary market values in the range of USD 300 to USD 800, depending on condition, presentation, and sales venue. The overall condition appears stable, with no visible structural damage in the provided images, which supports valuation within this range.
