Beautiful pair of coloured vases. Appear hand painted. 15cm at the widest part and 20cm in height.
They obtained them from an estate auction from a high society family.
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a pair of japanese Kyo-Yaki (Kyoto ware) Pottery jars, moriage decorated with phoenix, Chrysanthemum, foliage and clouds. The inscription in the lid refers to a position within a group of similar, left or right. Unfortunately both lids appear to have a hairline crack and or restoration, which adversely affects the value. The jars in your possession were made in the 1880s for export to foreign countries. The estimate is based on auction results for similar in recent auctions. "Asking prices" in the trade can be higher and vary.
