Dimensions are approximately 9.5’ x 13.5’. I bought this rug about 5 years ago. The woman said it was a Persian rug but there is no tag. It appears to be hand-woven as it’s not a perfect mirror image. Any detail you can provide is much appreciated!
Unknown. I bought it from a lady that was moving with some other high-end pieces.
Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This lacks most of the elements typically associated with a Persian rug - colors, decorative elements, etc. I suspect - if it was made in the Middle East - that it was made for the tourist market.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A vintage Indo European hand-loomed wool carpet
mid 20th Century
The central dark blue ground lushly decorated with stylized foliate motifs, within a lighter border and cream selvedges (fringe trim).
approximately 9 feet six inches by 13 feet 6 inches
CONDITION: appears to be in generally fair condition; value assumes no stains, odors, tears or repairs.
PROVENANCE: purchased from earlier owner about 5 years ago
