Porcelain doll with the inscription — Germany; Simon & Halbig; 1080-13 written on her back. Her head, arms and legs are porcelain and her body appears to be made of leather. She is approximately 30 inches tall. The dress is original, but I think her hair has been redone.
I received this doll from an antique dealer that my family was good friends with when I was a child. I don’t know where she acquired it from, but I know it was never on exhibit. She kept it in a room with other antique toys (this was 50 years ago). It came to me 10 years ago when she passed away.
Dear Linda,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a bisque head doll made by Simon & Halbig with the measurements of 30 inches in height. This doll has model number 1080-13 and the arms and legs are also made out of porcelain beside the leather body. The dress could be original and the hair is indeed a modern addition. The doll is hallmarked on the neck and was made at the beginning of the 20th century.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 100 to 250 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
