Hello Ramiro,

I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,

Considering the photographs, overall pattern, materials and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Made Ancient Pre-Columbian "Tumbaga" of the Quimbaya Culture. This piece likely dates back to the period between 500-900 AD. The authenticity of the piece should be determined by physical testing. Nowaday's Caldas and Risaralda were centers of the Quimbaya people. This piece was made of a copper and gold alloy. The piece was made with a specifical alloy which was made with a 30% copper percentage and gold material as the rest. The piece depicts a seated god figure with visible genitals. With this kind of appeareance we do assume that this Tumbaga was used for a symbol or fertility. The god figure is seen as carrying a possibly clay pot, it is visibly shallow and therefore might have been used as a incense burner. Also the god carries a crown decorated with simple circular stripes, also the god is wearing a necklace and bracelets on both arms. The piece appears to be in good condition with obivous signes of age. The authenticity of the piece is not guaranteed and should be investigated further. We can not guarantee authenticity on these items without in person inspection.
