Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A late Victorian / Aesthetic Movement carved and velvet-upholstered platform rocker and footstool
American, late 19th Century
Shaped crest with outset shaped "ears" over a part-upholstered back, flat arms raised on shaped supports, straight seat rail, all raised on platform rocker. Stool of rectangular form, over-the-frame upholstered, on ball feet (possibly by association)

CONDITION: appears to be in very good condition; upholstery probably a later replacement
PROVENANCE: inherited from uncle, an antique dealer
