Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. Based on the photographs and description provided, the subject of this appraisal is a Rogers Dynasonic Snare Drum circa late 1960s. Its composition is chrome plated brass with an Evans head. The original owner’s manual accompanies the piece.
According to the current owner, the piece was acquired via inheritance. In traditional auction settings, similar late 1960s and early 1970s Rogers Dynasonic snare drums do not typically feature. The most recent example hammered at Heritage in 2011 for $250. Therefore, recent online sales via eBay auction set a more realistic expectation of value on today’s market. Based on sales observed within the past three months, Rogers Dynasonic snares from the era in similar condition have been consistently sold in the $300 to $400 range, which is this piece’s Fair Market Value (a pre-auction estimate).
