Hi Barbara,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Yes, you are correct in assuming this was made by Loredano Rosin (Italian, 1936–1992), who was a master glassmaker from Murano, Italy, renowned for his work with the famed Salviati glassworks. Specializing in the lost art of glass sculpting, Rosin created stunning, expressive sculptures using the traditional Murano glassmaking techniques. His work often featured elegant, fluid forms in translucent, smoky colors, particularly using a glass known as "pulegoso." For Salviati, Rosin's artistry pushed the boundaries of glassmaking, blending craftsmanship with contemporary design, and leaving a lasting legacy.
Rosin's animal heads and figures were quite popular and there are fewer examples of animal sculptures that have come to market. Those that do tend to sell for between $1,000 and $3,000 but I've narrowed that to $1,500-2,500 based on the large size (it would be less valuable if it were smaller) and clear glass (it would be worth more if it were made from colorful or gold-flecked glass).
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
