I am not sure the person I bought it from says it was purchased in Spain in the 1930’s but honestly I am not sure if it is a reproduction or not - does not seem to have Spanish origin- it is a slant front secretary desk with drawers instead of slots- the door come down on to two pieces of wood that you need to manually pull out - hinge seems to be made out of two cotter pins - some nice detail to the wood work -
None that I know of I was told it was purchased in Spain around the 30’s but I don’t know - I purchased it on my travels
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a spanish style slant front desk, solid softwood pine nicely carved following local traditions and walnut colour stained. The production date 1930s is plausible, but similar was made in Mexico well into the 1960s and sold in department stores. The estimate is based on similar furniture sold at auctions. Prices in the trade are usually higher and can vary. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the item.
Yes, this would be the time frame and value if sold at auction. Most people today use a laptop, the demand for writing furniture is slowly vanishing. But just for the look of it, it should be great for someone living in Texas or New Mexico.
So it is definitely not older or more valueble correct?
