Hello Tiffany,
Thank you very much for submitting your painting for an online appraisal and for your patience.
Before I complete the appraisal, I have a question... Why do you believe that the work could be attributed to Donald Jarvis, and are you referring to the Canadian abstract artist: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Jarvis?
I'm not sure that this attribution is correct, but I'm not familiar with his entire body of work, so I was wondering if you have a bill of sale or some other indication that Donald Jarvis is the artist?
Thank you in advance for your time and response!
Kind regards,
Anne
I am certain it is the Canadian artist Donald Jarvis. I have done research myself and cannot locate this work either. That’s why I paid you :) good luck I look forward to what your research may provide. It’s a lovely piece already on my wall
Hi Tiffany,
Unfortunately, after reviewing works by the Canadian abstract artist, Donald Jarvis, I am going to have to disagree with your attribution on this work also. I believe that it's more likely that the work can be attributed to an American artist who was active in the 1960s named Robert Jarvis. The signature is similar and -- more importantly -- he painted in an impressionistic style with heavy impasto, which is easily observed in your painting. Here are a few examples of works attributed to Robert Jarvis:

I do not believe that the last example is a good indication of value, as this appears to be a gallery / retail price, which is often far above fair market value. However, I do also find it to be a lovely, decorative piece and would estimate it to be worth $200 to 300.
If you have any other questions about my appraisal, please let me know. Thank you again for your patience and I wish you all the best!
Kind regards,
Anne
I again do agree with you. Thank you very much, a beautiful treasure for a few bucks!
I have the signature which compares and yes I do not have a bill of sale or any paperwork. It was. Purchased at an estate sale. Also Donald Jarvis is k own for acrylic on canvas and has some works which would compare
