This is a small antique gun that is made of wood and metal, but mostly wood. It is slightly taller than 3.5 inches and its length is just shy of 7 inches. It has some interesting designed engraved in the metal portions.
My uncle was an antique gun collector and he did go to shows/exhibitions. He left me this and a few other items after he died.
Dear Andrea,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a Deringer style pocket pistol with a percussion lock with a total length of 7 inches. It was made out of steel, brass for the ornaments, and probably nut wood. This piece appears to be unmarked by the manufacturer and no proof marks are visible on the images. It was made in the first half of the 19th century probably in the United States.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 300 to 600 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
