11 dove tailed drawers of various sizes.Dove tailed drawers..appears to be walnut wood. Original finish and original easily American looking hardware.one of the drawers has (what I would describe as a old time ladies paper fan design) has straight lined carved design on upper tier edges.
I brought it from a local thrift store. The merchant told me they. Bought it from a lady ,, who told them" It had been in her family for as long as she could remember starting when she was a very young little girl and she appeared to the Merchant to be anywhere between her 70's and 90's. according tooI this older woman."Her family had been passing it down for many generations. But she felt she had. no need for the peice and had been storing it for as several years and just didn't want too deal with storing it anymore..I deduce given her age(according too the Merchant) She was either liquidating her estate or down sizing her estate.
This is an early to mid 20th century Chippendale Revival style tallboy dresser. The dovetailing was produced by machine; the joinery was not hand constructed nor done with hand tools. In addition, there is a laminate over the surface that gives it a smooth surface sheen that would not be seen on 19th century and earlier furniture pieces. You may want to check inside the drawers as there could possibly be a maker mark, label or tag inside one of them.
