This is a vintage 20th century polychromed textile tapestry that is a reproduction of an 18th century work. The tapestry here was produced by Ateliers Rambouillet in France which produced home decor reproductions. The work is based on an 18th century, Rococo era image entitled Bird Catchers that is in a Museum in Aix en Provence. The piece was executed by an A. Dimay and C. Buitard. Medieval and Renaissance era tapestries were originally made to cover large castle walls and serve as insulation in cold season months. They were, at that time, considered more valuable than gold and silver in an estate. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
