This is a vintage later 20th century original framed watercolor painting entitled The Portal by Allison Waldegrave Christie (1936-2005). Christie was a self-taught, self-promoting regional artist. The signature is followed by the initials GWS, for Georgia Watercolor Society, in which she gained member status. The view of "The Portal" is of a greenhouse on Sapelo Island in Georgia. As a regional artist, she is not nationally or internationally listed. The provenance, or history of past ownership, is that the work was gifted directly from the artist to her neighbor and there is an presentation dedication hand written on the verso, or backside.
