It's in good shape, some nicks here and there. Not sure if its faux or real tortoise shell. It smells old, and the interior has an old paper inside, that feels antique.
Don't really know. But comes from someone who had all original stuff.

Some states have restrictions about selling tortoiseshell, which is an endangered species. It may be difficult for you to sell this legally but I've priced it at what boxes of this size are bringing in areas where they can be sold.
