Thank you for submitting photographs of your chest for appraisal at MEARTO.
You have a brass-bound cedar chest; from the photograph of the interior, it looks like the lid may be older than the chest part, which appears to have been relined. There is good oxidation (aging) around the brass nails showing through on the underside of the lid. This form of chest was made from the 16th through the 19th centuries so dating it is a little difficult though I would speculate that this is a 19th century chest. While these are popular, they are not particularly rare and are sought after more for their decorative value rather than their value as a utilitarian object.
