According to AskArt: Vasily Yakovlevich Grachev (1831 -1905) St. Petersburg, Russia. The artist was the main competitor to E. Lanceray. Vasily stopped modelling after E. Lanceray's death in 1886. Both of them together made a really great input to the Russian sculptural art by competing and inspiring each other during the period of 1873 - 1886. Vasily used to cast all his works at Woerffel foundry, but there are five other models known marked NIKOLAEV. His works were never cast in France or any other country in Europe, just one of his late and important works was sold to USA with full rights for further casting.
The high goldish color of the cow indicates that this is a posthumous casting; a closely related example sold at auction in 2019 for $400 but had an estimate of $600-800. The market for Russian bronzes - even posthumous castings - has been strong lately so while the 2019 result fell below the estimate, it would most likely sell for within that range if sold again now.
