A long, straight sword with few identifying markings. Some rust on the end of the blade.

An inheritance from my great grandfather who brought it back from the pacific theatre of the second world war. It was sitting up in his attic temperature controlled but unattended for probably 40 years. He recently gifted it to me.

The presented object appears to be a North African "Takouba" sword with a total length of 60 inches. This straight double-edged sword with its characteristic broad handguard is typical for the Tuareg, Hausa, and Fulani people. This sword comes with a leather scabbard and a shoulder strap. This sword was probably made in the late 19th or 20th century.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in good condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 150 to 300 USD.
