"terminating in ball ends" references what you call "wooden door knobs;" I've seen this before but it's not a common feature, nor a particularly desirable one with collectors today. It was not a feature made on English armchairs in the 18th Century, which this is a much later version of.
Thank you - much appreciated, for the further information.
Thank you for the appraisal. I was disappointed that no mentioned was made of the wooden door knobs at the end of the arms. I have done some research and spoke to an upholsterer to see if they had seen another chair like this. The person that I bought it from dud say he bought it in the 1940’s. Have you seen another chair like this - it can’t be one of kind Ashe purchased from a store. He has passed away otherwise I could get more information. Was this a common thing to do - with the door knobs.
Appreciate if you could clear this mystery for me.
